Over a century ago, a Maine guide built a log cabin on the north shore of Spencer Pond. He named his homestead Sabotowan, the Wabanaki name for nearby Big Spencer Mountain. His cabin was the beginning of Spencer Pond Camps, a part of the history and continuing traditions of the north Maine woods. Today, our Camps offer a return to a way of life that is simpler and less hectic, a restful, scenic location for relaxation, and a remote setting for a wilderness experience.
RELAX
Do nothing...read a book...absorb the peace and quiet that envelops this remote pond in the absence of man-made noise.
OR BE ACTIVE
Hike...fish...climb a mountain...bird watch...moose watch...search for the elusive lynx, bear and bobcat...canoe...bike...make your own adventure as you explore the north woods around our Camps and enjoy the rewards of discovering the magic for yourself.
